Give Grandparents a Smile

September 3, 2020
On September 13, we’re celebrating National Grandparents Day, the perfect time to appreciate our loved ones and thank them for all they do. It’s an especially important holiday to celebrate this year, as older people are greatly impacted by the loneliness that accompanies social distancing and more at risk to contract COVID-19. Like all celebrations right now, safety is key, and GiftCast offers the perfect way to send a personalized gift while physically distancing.

With GiftCast, users can send their loved ones a cash gift for a meal on them along with warm wishes from the grandkids. The ability to send the gift with a personalized video message provides endless opportunities for creative videos to accompany the gift. Younger grandchildren could sing a song, recite a poem or perform a skit – the ideas are limitless! For a holiday normally spent with others, sending a personal gift with GiftCast fosters connections and creates more sentimentality than a card or text message could, which is critical during a time when many feel isolated.

GiftCast’s user interface is simple and easy to use, making it a great gifting option for technologically savvy grandparents. Once the gift is sent, recipients receive a text message to download the app and watch the video, which they can save and view forever. They can also withdraw the gift directly to their bank account to use whenever and wherever they want. Users can also choose to send an Amazon EGift Card that recipients can instantly apply to their Amazon account, giving grandparents the option to shop at one of the largest online retailers worldwide.

iDo: Wedding Gifting Gets Personal

August 19, 2020
Weddings worldwide are being rescheduled or postponed as couples and families grapple with how their special day will look during a pandemic. An increase in virtual weddings has changed the way people gift, with guests shipping wedding gifts directly to the couples or simply sending cash gifts. Loved ones are looking for ways to practically celebrate couples while maintaining sentimentality, a struggle all too common in the gifting space.

At GiftCast, we believe in sending personal and sentimental digital gifts and showing recipients our appreciation while allowing for flexibility in how they spend it. With our recently introduced Amazon eGift Card option, GiftCast users can now send the happy couple a digital gift card to one of the largest online retailers, giving them the flexibility to purchase necessary household items as they start their new lives together. Cash gifts are also perfect for newlyweds’ honeymoon funds or savings for a new house. Both the Amazon gift card and cash gift options allow users to choose the amount sent alongside a recorded video message, adding that personal touch. The recipient can download and save the video message forever, creating a digital scrapbook as the couple reflects on their wedding in the future.

Have you sent any virtual wedding gifts with GiftCast? Let us know your GiftCast stories on our social media channels!

Back to School: How to Celebrate the Season

August 4, 2020
Amid socially distant, masked classroom setups, new class sizes and virtual learning options, back to school season certainly looks different this year for students of all ages. While fall’s return to learning may be unfamiliar for both parents and students alike, the excitement and magic around the new season can remain the same.

Whether your student is at a classroom desk or at the kitchen table, online shopping for new back to school supplies, like fresh shoes and backpacks or a new tablet and tech accessories, can help celebrate the season. Establishing special traditions, like a crafted countdown chain, first day pancakes, a show-and-tell session or a school year bucket list, can help instill some normalcy (and lifelong memories!) heading into the new year too.

For parents, relatives and family friends who want to participate in the excitement of the season from afar amidst social distancing guidelines, technology can be utilized as a resource. This year, opt for a personalized GiftCast video and money gift or Amazon eGift Card in lieu of a shopping spree at the mall. Parents can use the money or gift card towards new school supplies or traditions and share the videos with their children (even saving them to play years down the line for a sentimental moment). For older children heading off to college, a GiftCast gift can help them settle into their new space. A cherished family video can help ease the new transition, while the cash gift can be used towards textbook or college gear.

While the school year may look different for students of all ages, old and new traditions and technology can still help us celebrate the new season.

Looking Ahead: What’s New at GiftCast

July 17, 2020
The app space is always evolving, and so are we. We’re excited to unveil a few changes on the GiftCast app that will help you continue sending your loved ones meaningful, special surprises.

We’ve expanded our payment options. You can still pay through your bank account, but you can also opt to send money through your debit card, credit card or PayPal account now too. With so many options, sending that perfect gift for your recipient to use when and where they choose is even easier.

In addition to expanding our options, we launched an exciting gift card partnership with Amazon. We understand that sometimes money gifts are not the right option for your recipient, so now you can send your loved one an Amazon eGift Card along with your personalized video message.

Here’s how it works:
  • Download GiftCast through the Apple or Android app store.
  • Select Amazon eGift Card and record a sentimental (or funny!) video to send to your chosen recipient.
  • Pay with your credit card, debit card or PayPal.
  • Hit send and wait for your recipient to receive a text letting them know they received a GiftCast!
  • Your recipient can watch, save and share your video. They’ll receive an email from Amazon with a claim number and can add the gift card directly to their account.
And, rest assured: your gift card won’t go to waste like so many plastic alternatives. Amazon has the one of the lowest rates of unclaimed gift cards!

We love to hear how you use GiftCast! Head to our social media pages and share your gifting stories with us.
